russian producer valya kan debuts on spencer parkers work them records with a four track sampler from her subterranean album dust and haze . leave opens up the sampler with tantalising synths and dubby effects before you re lead into ‘promises featuring valya kan s voice, uttering the track title whilst syncopated percussion and ghostly atmospherics work their magic. flip it over and you re hit with the whirring sci-fi elements and rattling samples in smoke in the cockpit. rounding off the sampler acid hotel is a more up-tempo, demonstrating rolling arpeggios and snappy snares.

jeremiah jae (aka black daffi) is an experimental hip-hop artist born and raised on the south side of chicago. he is a visual artist, producer, emcee and founding member of black jungle squad, a music collective consisting of close friends and family. early works by jae dating back to 2007, display his unique style and approach to crafting his own version of “hip-hop”. the genre is one of many foundations the artist uses to communicate his range of styles as shown on previous self-released albums, compilations and collaborations (holy smoke, oliver the 2nd, l’orange, cohenbeats, pbdy), as well as praiseworthy offerings on brainfeeder and warp records. with his newest solo album daffi, jae expands on his production and speaks in the persona of his alter ego to express a darker side.

vive la void is the new solo project of sanae yamada, co-founder and keyboard player of moon duo. yamada wrote and recorded the self-titled debut album over roughly a two-year period, during windows of downtime in moon duo’s substantial touring and recording schedule. the dense, shape-shifting atmospheres of the seven songs grew out of late-night basement experiments in the layering of synthesizer tracks, a process that also led to meditations on the changeable nature of memory and perception. the result is an undulating blend of ethereal swirl, low end thrumming, and electric crackle, buoyed by yamada’s understated but captivating vocal melodies and her striking lyrics.
